Belle's pyloric mass removal

This is Belle, a 10-year-old Labrador Retriever cross who came to us with concerning symptoms, including difficulty keeping food down and severe abdominal pain.

After an ultrasound and CT scan performed by veterinary surgeon Dr Kyle Eadie, Belle was diagnosed with a pyloric mass.

To treat Belle’s condition, she underwent a procedure where the pyloric mass was removed, followed by a Billroth I procedure. This involved removing part of Belle’s stomach and directly reconnecting the stomach to the small intestine, reconstructing the upper gastrointestinal tract.

Additionally, Belle required a bowel anastomosis, where a damaged part of the intestine was removed, and the healthy sections were reconnected to restore normal digestive function.

Belle's recovery

After all of this, we are incredibly proud of Belle and how well she recovered from her procedure. We’d also like to add that, despite everything, Belle still managed to charm the entire team - and may or may not have convinced us that belly rubs are a critical part of her recovery plan!
